Boston police officer shot in chest during shootout
In serious condition but expected to survive.
Herald: Hub cop shot by thug:
A reputed gangbanger pulled out a Glock and shot Boston police gang unit Officer Stephen Romano in the chest when he was asked for his ID during a gang sweep last night, police said.
Globe: Boston officer shot; Gunfight leaves suspect wounded.
BPDNews: Suspect in serious condition at Beth Israel; shot by a state trooper working with the Boston cops, after he shot the Boston officer.
The incident happened at 35 Westville St., a day after a man was shot at the same location.
Tracy, a nurse at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton, is outraged:
my tolerance for gang members is getting less and less and i can honestly say that if that piece of shit who shot the "cop" (the cop that i work for!) ended up at fransican's i would outwardly say that i refuse to take care of him. ... i hope one of his nurses today forgets to give him his morphine and hes in a fuck load of pain.and the thing that infuriates me even more, is that the damn kid has probably walked the halls of my hospital numerous times visiting one of my patients ...
Carpundit: Maybe Troopers Need Bigger Guns:
... If the Herald's account is accurate, the suspect was then shot twice by a trooper, but got right up and laughed about what he had done.
Life in prison isn't long enough.

you are a nurse?
somebody might want to check you out.i understand being upset about a cop being shot but to say what you said goes beyond what seems appropriate."i hope one of his nurses today forgets to give him his morphine and hes in a fuck load of pain" are you kidding me? whats next for you? maybe a fight with your husband and the guy you take care of that day gets no meds because you are mad at your husband?it seems like you might have some problems.again, i am sorry that cop got killed ( i actually know him).i understand someone being upset about it.bottom line is that you need help tracy.
sorry
sorry i said killed. i know he is seriously injured.sorry
Venting on a blog? Or unprofessional?
Sounds like Tracy was just doing some nasty venting on her own blog ... or was she?
It depends on whether she really WOULD do what she claimed. If so, I would like to see her fired or disciplined. You don't get to choose or judge your patients, and you have to do your job according to the standards of care.
And I bet she thinks she's a Christian?
After all, it was all for such a "matter of principle" that the guy who devised the blood typing system bled to death because the medical staff at the hospital he was taken to refused to care for him because he was one of those ugly dirty people they didn't want to touch!
No, Charles Drew didn't die because he was black
He died because his injuries were too severe to save him after he fell asleep at the wheel and drove his car off the road and got ejected and the car rolled over on him.
Refusal of care is still the issue
Fair enough.
Whether Charles Drew in particular could have been saved, however, is not as important as the issue raised by the story, now corrected if Wiki is to be trusted. The issue is that caregivers denying care based on their revulsion toward the person needing care are not behaving professionally.
Drew's story was sufficiently believable as to be printed in history books in the early 1980s because of a long history of blacks turned away from white hospitals, even if Drew himself was not. Nurses and Doctors and hospital staffers have no right to "clean" patients, physically, morally, or otherwise.
So long as nurse Tracy keeps to venting in her blog but not throwing fits "in uniform", there isn't a problem. But if she refuses to care for a patient or deliberately punishes a patient by withholding medical care, she deserves sanction as these are highly unprofessional acts.
Yes, still the issue, but ...
Let's not base it on urban legends, is all I'm saying.
In the history books
= beyond urban legend. It was in our modern history text in high school in the section on segregation. Circa 1981-2.
I agree that it was an embellished falshood in this case, but I wouldn't cite Wiki as a definitive source, either. My son's 5th grade teacher won't accept it as a reference.
Wikipedia is easy to cite
Because it comes up so high in quicky Google searches. But, OK, how about the American Red Cross?
DR. CHARLES R. DREW AND BANKED BLOOD: A Resource Guide (Click on the Myths and Facts about Dr. Drew link).
The denial of medical treatment is not only unprofessional
but illegal, to boot.
O RLY?

Everything's OK, people...
Last year's gun buyback was a "major success". Menino said so himself. He wouldn't lie about something like that.
Shooting / gang Updates
From the Suffolk DA's office: Antonio Franklin ordered held on $250,000 cash bail - but even if he could raise that, a judge revoked his bail on an earlier marijuana possession charge.
Not directly related but:
TWENTY-FIVE "LUCERNE STREET DOGGZ" ASSOCIATES CHARGED WITH FEDERAL AND STATE DRUG AND FIREARM OFFENSES - many of them teen-agers.
Globe: 25 alleged Boston gang members charged with gun, drug offenses:
Herald: Daughter of ex-Patriots player busted in big Hub gang sweep
Note the BPDNews headline --
Note the BPDNews headline -- the lack of punctuation makes it read as if the cops shot someone who was in custody.
GANGBANGER HATER?
I ALSO MUST SAY THAT YOU ARE THE PIECE OF SHIT!
WHILE I DO HAVE ALOT OF RESPECT FOR THE STRAIGHT COPS WHO DO THEIR JOB HONESTLY, THERE IS ALSO ALOT OF FOUL PLAY THAT THE PUBLIC DOESN'T HEAR ABOUT ON THE COPS BEHAVE ALSO..AND YOU SHOULD REALLY KNOW ALLL OF YOUR FACTS(WHICH IS VERY HARD TO COME BY-"BY THE WAY") BEFORE YOU JUDGE!
PLEASE, QUIT YOUR JOB! YOU DON'T DESERVE IT!
NURSE NOT DOING HER JOB
I am also a nurse and I will tell you this right now that I would NEVER refuse care because of race. BUT if someone who shot and killed a boston officer came into my work I would have to turn to my supervisor and inform them that for personal conflicts that I can not assist in this case. My twin brother is a boston cop and I KNOW that I would not be able to care for the patient appropriatly for personal feelings. NOW if you do not say anything and take on that patient then LEGALLY you are to give that patient the best care you can!! You cannot take a patient that you know you will have an issue with and know you wont care for equally then that is negligent! AND ILLEGAL! Anyway I just thought I should share. Have a great day!
gangbanger hater
your just a dickhead
