Nothing to see here, move along

NOTE: In the days after I posted this, somebody posted replies alleging that this was, in fact, a murder, and pointing to specific people as the suspects. I'm not the police and have no way to gauge the truth of the allegations, so I've taken them offline in case they are not true.

Yesterday, I noticed an odd thing in Channel 4's RSS feed - when I clicked on the link to an item about a stabbing behind the Shaw's in West Roxbury, instead of a story about some awful crime in that most suburban of neighborhoods, I got: The login screen for Channel 4's online content management system (Zope - Good choice, guys).

Wayne Braverman at the Transcript has the scoop: The incident was initially reported as a stabbing or shooting and three TV stations all reported it as such - and even sent their Sky Eye Action News copters to hover over the supermarket. But then it turned out it wasn't a stabbing. It was "just" some poor junkie dead of a drug overdose:

... When it became clear later in the night that this was an overdose death, all the Boston media pulled the story with no word about the mistaken reports.

Maybe channel 4 removed the page, but apprarently channel 5 - The Boston Channel - is standing by its' original story.

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/14363245/deta...

The only news organization that took the time to provide an update on the story while maintaining the origanal link was the community news (transcript) organization.

I guess we have a long way to go with online news accuracy and accountability.

This man was not a junkie and did NOT overdose. He WAS murdered and put in those woods. GET your facts straight before you print them.

Why is the incident not reported in the Boston Police Department News?

It could mean it was, as the Transcript reporting, a drug OD. Or it could be one of those crimes they just aren't posting for some reason. They're generally very good with murders and violent crimes that may turn into murders, but they don't post absolutely everything.

I think the town is grieving enough already losing two friends.
Cause of death was confirmed cardiac arrest related to an overdose. No friend of this victim refers him as a junkie but merely a friend lost in grief. A friend loved by many.
Friends grieve, get drunk and at times fight, don't mean it was the cause.

You are very close to the truth, I believe. And let's not leave out the name of Nancy Morrisy, a well know drug addict and totally insane nut. Who somehow is involved in all of this. She is the daughter of the owner of Bojak's Hair School. Also, we who knew Matty/the vitom, would not voluntarilly go to see her. therefore your idea that he was suffocated was probably true,a nd maybe even drugs were forced into his body because Mattty was not a JUnkie. He was going to AA every night and doing good. The story on the street is that the fact is he was stabbed by Stickman, he was dragged to his car screaming, he was in Greg's car, now who found his body and called 911. We found out that the call was made very late after the stabbing. Why? Why aren't the cops doing their job and trying to hide this as an overdose not a murder. YEs, believe it or not, a murder happened on the quiet streets of West Roxbury. And, the cops are trying to hide this fact. Lots of information is being given to them, and they are not following the leads. Come on people. Think of his mother and what she is going through. This is her son,a nd the only child left. Her first son also died. Let's not let this murderer get away. He is violent, known to be, and deserved to be brought in and questioned and put on trial for this case. ONly then will all the evidence be brought forward (if not tampered with by our local boys in blue), and then we will know the truth. Maybe we need to get outside police into this investigation because it is known that the Walsh family has police ties. HIs brother is friends with CSI. Let's not let them get away with calling this an overdose instead of a murder or at least a manslaughter.

Police, just wait at his mailbox on the first of the month in Dedham where he lives with his girlfriend. His SSI check will be needed for him to buy beer as he hides in the woods somewhere.
