It was news that the rain was puddling. If my TV had been on Channel 7, it wouldn't have been for long. The Somerville fire/police scanner was much more interesting throughout the day.

i dont know who made this video but it's a brilliant piece of editing, i thought it perfectly captures the overhyped reporting that's going on...
you know, the cry wolf story is so appropriate here! next hurricane when it's getting really bad, people will flock to the beach too. all because of these stupid reporters that are literally just.. reporting NOTHING.

Channel 7 seems leaps and bounds better than the rest IMO, appears the only one actually covering the real bad situations out in VT and western MA.
Thats where the real story is, besides the micro bursts and downed trees here.

Channel 7 had extensive coverage of the tree that fell on Beacon St. adjacent to Cheers. At one point the anchor asked "what sort of people are coming to see it? Are they tourists?" This was after the tree had been removed from the road and when there was only a stump remaining.
Not quality, or even useful, reporting.

Turns out the "organic matter" was raw sewage whipped into a froth by the wind and waves.
And we can all thank the Ford Motor Company
for this storm. At least according to NECN, whose greed for even more advertising profits compelled them to flash the Ford logo atop their Hurricane Irene banner, which they then showed about once every two minutes.
Which then compelled me to switch to another channel after about six minutes of that nonsense.
storm reporting
The reporter-in-the-storm routine is a useless tradition that should be ended before someone is killed. The reporters certainly don't enjoy it and they hardly produce any good information. It's total insanity.
