Around 10:20 p.m., Galen Moore reported:
Tree down plus 1 telephone pole, and live wires like a web around my house on Robeson Street in Jamaica Plain.
Meanwhile, both boston.com and its pay site are down. bostonherald.com is up, but do yourself a favor - don't read the comments on their main snow story.

So I says to myself, I says "Self, how bad can comments on a snowstorm possibly be, even from Herald commenters?"
How naive I am.

And don't read comments on any Herald story.
I believe some wise man around here once said: "Friends don't let friends read Herald comments." ~Ancient UniversalHub proverb
Let me guess...

The people who post comments on the Herald site will make ANYTHING political. Snow, sun, rain, flowers, birds, cats, dogs, food...it's a strange phenomenon. They also seem to live in a completely different world and time removed from reality. They will bring up figures and events from long, long ago like Louise Day Hicks, Dapper O'Neil etc, but they don't really bring them up in a historical context. They bring it up like it is still happening or just happened in the recent past. They think there are "dirty hippies" and "commies". Some of them have got to be a put on. I mean, how OLD can they be?

That's crazy. I live in Quincy, and other than it being extremely windy, we got nothing to report about. Hope none of those trees come down!! Be safe!

Come for the story, stay for the hate, racism and ignorance.

Spoken by the Pastor of my parish during the same homily yesterday:
"'...there's a Nor' Easter coming - time to stock up on milk, eggs and bread!" (sarcastically); and in an unrelated comment:
"...it was in the Herald, so it must be true!" (more sarcasm).
If even 50% of the priests in the Catholic Church had half the wit of this fellow, mass would be one of the most popular weekend activities - even for non-Catholics.
