The building in question is going to be on the corner of Tremont and Stuart, as reported. There are four such corners, and the one where this will be is the one that abuts the Wilbur Theater (SE corner). This parcel has been empty for a couple of decades at least. I think the Caribe may have been on the North East corner, but don't quote me on that.

They have teeny pod like rooms in Manhattan which are fine if you're only going to sleep there. The problem is that it still costs $300/night to stay there. If I'm going to sleep in a room with bunk beds, I want to pay $100/night.
For $300, you can stay at a much better place than a room that feels like you're on a submarine.

Sure, you have to share a bath and toilet out in the hallway, but I got a double bed, small room with desk and space for my folding bike, closet, washing up sink, etc. for $120 a night. I was three blocks from Union Square, and it was one of the quietest hotel rooms I have had in any city, especially NYC!

about 25 years ago that was in the international terminal at LAX. After nearly 20 hours travel from Sydney with a 2 hour flight delay, it was nice to have a shower, relax, and catch up on a little US news on TV during the 3 hour lay-over for my 6 hour flight to Boston. Only time I stayed in a room that was by the hour!
Most mid-town NYC hotel rooms aren't much larger!
The idea is catching on - thankfully!

I'd rather stay at the brand new Hosteling International around the corner in Chinatown... shared rooms for a mere $39 a night or a private room with private bath for $120 a night. Free wifi. And a cafe/lounge. Might not be a chic hotel but the price is right.
