That seems like a huge space for a sandwich bar, no?

The former Borders space is under renovation and will be subdivided. H&M may be expanding into part of it.
Just what the area needs...

Another over-priced sandwich shop.

Sucks for you that more people will now have jobs and there are more lunch / coffee options.
Do you even live or work near this location. Probably not. I do and will be looking forward to the opening!
I have worked in that area for 20 years

And in that time I have seen a number of wonderful independent locally owned establishments forced to close or move far away due to rent increases. Excuse me if I am unexcited about another chain opening, no matter how good it is purported to be.

My friend and I were lamenting the loss of Tealuxe just the other day. I loved that place so much and the high rent drove it out of there.
Not high rent that dun it

From what I heard from an employee, that place was sloppily managed by the owners and losing money as a result.
Oh bummer

They were the least pretentious tea place I've been. Tea snobs are almost as insufferable as wine snobs.

Some employees at the Harvard Square location have a bit of an attitude.
Pret,

as everyone calls it on London, has fantastic sandwiches at very reasonable prices. They have a had a hard time in America as the sandwiches are pre-made and packaged in cardboard and cellophane. Apparently, Americans want everything freshly made, although the Pret sandwiches are made in the store every couple of hours, and are never allowed to sit for too long in their refridgerated cases.
I lived in London for 5 years and I must say I have missed Pret a Manger, esp. in this Boloco/Panera Bread culture we have where the food in these places is horrendous and not so cheap.
I wonder if they'll dumb down their menu for the Boston area, where most of the citizenry can't even pronounce hummus correctly. Try introducing Bostonians to a ready-made Plowman's Lunch sandwich. "Does it got melted asiago cheese on it? Will it go with my Frappucino?" I can almost hear them saying.
I am v. excited about

I am v. excited about this--Pret had excellent sandwiches when I lived in York. I hope they will have cheese & onion crisps as well!
Were they in the Pru a few years ago?

There was some place like that in the Prudential Center Mall a few years ago. I know I had eaten there in London. Was it Pret a Manger?
If it's the place I'm thinking of, no

The one with all the different stations for different kinds of food?
That was a cool place, but it was called something else (naturally, I can't remember what).
I believe you're thinking of

I believe you're thinking of Marche Movenpick. I believe this is a different outfit.
Thank you!

I was trying to dig back to the '90s when I ate there in London. I seemed to think that it was Swiss because I vaguely remember a cuckoo clock on the outside of the restaurant in London.
I almost had to call my Mom to ask her -- she did a lot of traveling to London when she was working and went there all the time when it was here in Boston.
Bless you, Finn.
Always liked Pret when I was

Always liked Pret when I was in London a lot -- they are a rare sandwich shop with lots of vegetarian options. And the food is good. I'll definitely check it out when they open here.
