why you might ask, does the school dept think it is ok to spend tens of million$ of dollars we dont have, to uproot good schools, teachers and students and move them miles away from their homes, instead of replicating the working models in the places they are needed?
because they need instant fixes for decades of neglect, dysfunction and poor management in other areas.
this is all in aide of saving face. not the people serving and problem solving, sob story, it is being played as. they messed up in mattapan and other neighborhoods, so we are all being expected to pay for their failures all the way down the line, because they wouldnt make the tough descisions and commitments they should have sooner than later.
leave our excellent schools alone and fix your own messes.

If it teaches them how to write correctly using capital letters, complete sentences, correct spelling, and correct puntuation, I'm all for it. ;-)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Here's an idea: Take schools that are working, in fact, thriving, and make them uproot, move, add more children (the HECK with the small schools model!). Oh, and make sure it's a pilot school. They have been especially successful.

What do you get? Chaos! And certainly an uphill battle for these schools (Mission Hill, Fenway, BCLA)/

Time to go to a new struggling urban district, Dr. Johnson. I think you've done what you can in Boston.
