Infrared view of Sandy, via NOAA.
At 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Google had 8,040 results for a search on
As of 7:40 a.m., that was up to 8,790.
Of course, what do you expect, when AP reports the storm's measurements are spooking meteorologists? So what choice do we have here in the weather fortress but to kick the French Toast Alert to yellow? Especially since, unlike the '91 storm, Sandy seems more likely to actually blast right onto land after, of course, it churns up the Atlantic (because churning is what major tropical storms do)?
UPDATE: As of 11 a.m., the Google tally has risen to 39,700.

That it's humid enough for MONSOON-like rains. That always reminds me of my boyhood days watching Gilligan's Island reruns after school.

There's going to be a FULL MOON on October 29. FLOOD WATCHES and WARNINGS. HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES.
Morrissey Blvd underwater! Houses in Scituate perched perilously atop eroding cliffs! Dumbass teens jumping and waving behind the reporter on the beach getting soaked with rain! Downed power lines! Please people, stay off of the roads! (Papa Gino's delivery guy, that doesn't apply to you.)

...Shelby Scott shows up on my TV.
(Is she still alive, BTW? If not, replace with Jim Cantore.)
Shelby Scott seems to have fallen off the face of the earth

I tried searching for her on the web yesterday and there is no mention of her other than on the WBZ Wikipedia page and a couple of other random pages.
I hope she's warm and cozy wherever she is. She served this area proudly for many cold and snowy years.
French Toast Alerts

Don't you think it's time to retire the boring Crayola alerts in favor of buttah (cat 1), powdahed sugah (cat 3), and the muthah of them all, grade A maple syrup (cat 5)?
Sadly, being gluten-free, french toast isn't on my radar, but I have a 6 mo supply of pumpkin spice coffee, tinned herring (w/ enough tins to redo storm stripped shingles on the roof) and enough cat litter to rebuild all MA coastal erosions. Let 'er blow!
