She should be fine, just a little scrape of gel coat and pride :)

We sailed past this today and I can't figure out how they ended up on the rocks!!!! So troubling.

they ran aground as tide was rising and rocks were probably not visible. High tide was just before noon, and picture was taken after noon when the tide went out, revealing the rocks. Tide was around 10 feet yesterday and pictures shows tide had fallen about half of that so picture must have been taken around 3PM

We sailed by at 1230pm and they were on the rocks already. Those rocks are clearly marked on the chart, so they were very avoidable.
Low tide was at 415pm so they hit when the tide was high, which is even more perplexing.
I still am baffled by this. Carelessness is the only thing that comes to mind.

woops, looking at the picture again, the tide was rising when the picture was taken, so the boat, Swansea, must have run aground much earlier.

but more likely, it could have something to do with 30-packs of Bud Light.

Yeah, of course. But I meant that while "on the rocks" refers to hard liquor, my suspicion involves beer. Lots of it. Even water disguised as beer.

Refer the the chart: http://people.seas.harvard.edu/~leslie/Charts/1327...

The east side of Spectacle Island, where I believe this photo was taken, is very shallow for quite a bit out. Boaters should take care to stay in the Sculpin Ledge Channel in this part of the harbor.

Also maybe the boat lost power and was unable to prevent being washed into the shallows.
