Seems the brokers are now referring to a rapidly condoifyin' part of Brookline as SoBe (not to be confused with Sobro).
Only problem, aside from the general stupidity of it all: In the past, brokers came up with these MoNiKers to try to disguise an area's crime-ridden/desolate/poor-people past. And I'm just having trouble conjuring up any mean streets in Brookline these days - especially in SoBe, CoolCor, WaSqua, EaHa or WeHa, let alone BrookVill or PuttHam.

yo
nobody best say nothing bout the SoBro unless they want to get messed up by my boyz.
p.s. robbie is innocent, just a good kid that made a bunch of mistakes yo.
Make up your mind
Bostonkid or SoBrovian? (Or Putzerhamish...)
But SoBe is a beverage company
Don't forget the horrific...
EaBo for East Boston...
The letter?
Sorry, I must have dreamed that during a REM stage.
SoBe it
Maybe they could name all the neighborhoods after trendy drinks? Odwalla has possibilities. But which part of Boston would they name Naked?
Oh, that has to be
The intersection of Washington and LaGrange.
Labels
What was that one on How I Met Your Mother? DoWiSeTrePla, which turned out to mean "Downwind of the Sewage Treatment Plant."
I've made this joke before, but...
... here's another opportunity!
I used to live in Lower Mills, on the Dorchester-Mattapan border. MY WIFE called it DorMat. I preferred MataDor. Neither one seems to have caught on yet.

Wal-Lex and Arlex and Arlmont
Wal-Lex used to be a bowling alley and skating rink in Waltham, near the Lexington line.
Arlex is an oil company in Lexington, near the Arlington line.
Arlmont is a section of Arlington near the Belmont line.
arlmont?
ive always wondered, this is part of arlington?
The arlmonty
Yep - the area on Route 2 on the west slope of Belmont Hill is "Arlmont".
Others that sound odd: Bra-wey (braintree/weymouth - make them rhyme, now!) and Quintree Plaza, too.
Oh yeah, Beware of Bearvers on Winford Way in Medchester.
WashMo
You mean they didn't call that WashMo because of the intersection of Washington and Morton?
No, but...
... where Morton crosses Blue Hill Avenue is definitely MoBlue.

heh.
Suldog, I am starting to think maybe I live in your house. Eerie.
Though I guess I'm three blocks, if you count the bridge.
Lissa, Where...?
What is your address? If you'd rather not give it out in public, e-mail me at [email protected]. If you'd rather not give it out at all, that's cool, too, but now I'm curious.

So wait...
Would this mean the stretch of land on either side (laterally, see) of Morrissey Boulevard be known as LaMo?
Did IQs drop sharply when I was away?
You know, sometimes people do this thing, called 'abbreviation' like...in real estate listings. You know, like... 2Bd means two bedrooms? AC means air conditioning, ShtzTwn is short for Roslindale or Somerville.
Ya get it?
yeah....
like A-Ho is short for OneMansOpinion... I get it..
Wow, that's clever!
and here, I thought you had no cobbles! Thank you for turning a nonsense post into a trolling event. You must be very pleased as you sip that chai latte, typing on your macbook in a starbucks some where!
boo hoo hoo hoo hoo.
DoReMeFaSoLaTeDo
Perhaps that's where you catch the ski bus to the VonTrapp lodge?

Wasn't is Shakespeare who wrote "First thing we do, let's kill all the real estate weasels?"
