Beer Street Journal reports the Saint Joseph Abbey in Spencer is adding a brewery, and its first Trappist offering will be called Spencer:
Spencer is a full-bodied, golden-hued Trappist ale with fruity accents, a dry finish and light hop bitterness.

That's really cool. Their products (jellies, jams) already meet the standards to have the Trappist logo. I hope their beer does as well (if it's any good that is). The label alone will give it international recognition.

Well, I stopped buying their jam when they started using high-fructose corn syrup instead of sugar...
But, that said, this is exciting news and I will make sure to try some of their beer.
You should read labels more carefully
Trappist jams and preserves don't use high fructose corn syrup, they use sugar and regular (ie non-chemically-modified) corn syrup. That is, in fact, one of the reasons I buy them.
