Train Rider posts a letter from Bob Stoetzel, recently fired as head of commuter-rail operations over that Halloween-costume issue:
... To be quite honest, my termination would have been easier for me to accept if I was advised I was being held responsible for the overall decline in commuter rail service performance and the high level of dissatisfaction and frustration being experienced by commuter rail customers on all service lines, including the Worcester Line. ...

On behalf of the Executive Team and thousands of unhappy commuter rail passengers, please accept our humble apology for the confusion regarding your recent termination. Based on your recent online communications, it is evident that you have not received our prior note dated January 5, which indicated our intent to rescind our termination of your employment.
In order to investigate this oversight, we consulted with our independent auditors who in turn concluded that our courier service had the audacity to rely upon the Worcester commuter rail service in order to hand deliver this note to your home. Floyd (the courier) has been stuck in Framingham for weeks, however, we anticipate that normal service will restored shortly.
Meanwhile, I wanted to share with you some great improvements that have occurred since your departure. Building upon your locally devised "noose" initiative, we have now implemented an open “neckwear” policy throughout the organization in order to foster diversity. This has done wonders for our sagging employee morale, while also accessorizing our drab blue polyester apparel. Did you know that over 95% of our workforce were sporting specially fitted metal collars in celebration of Martin Luther King Day? Personally, I can’t wait to see what will be the most popular item for our Gay Pride festivities in June. Something tells me it will have a rainbow theme!
Sincerely,
Ima Gonna-Belate

Even though he didn't get it because he deserved it. I had personal dealings with him over the ridiculous state of the Worcester line last year, to the point where I demanded a refund on my $250 monthly pass. His response was....lacking, at best. Good f'n riddance.

Wait, management is supposed to be responsible for the overall performance of their department? What a novel concept, is that from the Art of War?
