A matter of perspective: Winchester man creates town that never was
By adamg on Thu, 11/14/2013 - 7:44am
Meet Michael Paul Smith, who, for 25 years, has been using model cars, actual buildings in Winchester and a technique called "forced perspective" to create photos of a mythical town called Elgin Park.
His Flickr feed has more photos.

That's Awesome
I love stuff like this. I'd love to see that whole collection of model cars, too. He's got some real beauties there.

As someone who does this kind of modeling at a pretty high level - that stuff is amazing and even more difficult than most people realize. That picture of the tow truck pulling the car out of the snow is genius - modeling realistic snow is tough enough - but getting that "trodden" look is masterpiece level work.
I tip every hat I own to this guy.
Thanks-but bad link
The link to the site has a universal hub address that's no good. Typing in the link, however, worked and the Holiday Open House looks fun. Thanks.
Link fixed.
Needed "http://"
Thanks Adam
I went out and tried to fix it - but the little linky and other formatting icons didn't come up on the edit post page that I could see. I'll keep that in mind for next time!
What dates?
Couldn't see the dates anywhwere....
December 7-8
11 am - 3 pm.
Across from Roslindale Village commuter rail station - enter via brown door between Dandelion's florist and the gift shop on the corner.
Santa only there Sunday I believe from about noon.
Bring lots of kids ages 1 to 101 (note - lots of stairs - not handicapped accessible - but we'll get someone up the stairs if needed - strollers have to stay at bottom of stairs) - be prepared for the little kids to want to stay with us - we usually end up having to adopt 2-3 after every show! :-)
Uhubbers - please stop by and say hi - I will most likely be at the door about an hour each day or in the "tower" over the mountains on the HO layout if I'm running trains.
His photos are great! Just
His photos are great! Just spent a lot of time on his Flickr page.
Been an admirer of his for a while
He always makes me feel wholly inadequate as a photographer.
They buried the lede, though...
...when he said midway through the interview, "But I have to carry all of my stuff with me on a baggage cart because I don’t have a car." This gave me a chuckle.
