Everybody knows that down by the river is where you'll find lovers, fuggers and thieves ...
In any case, who's saying he's from BU? He's attacking people (including several BU students) near BU.
catchy name

Remember all of the sexual assaults around Tufts U? Kids at my husband's high school near there - kids who regularly walked to the T - were reporting sightings of the supsect and some were cooking up a decoy plan to smash the jerk's head in. They were also arranging to meet and walk from the T station together, with the usual adolescent tough talk about selective dismemberment. I myself moved my bike lock to a more accessible position as I was generally travelling through the affected areas at times when attacks had been taking place. Not so much for myself, but to assist anybody I saw along the way.
This jerk, like that jerk, will be found quite soon unless he relocates to another city. Once people have organized themselves like my husband's students and our community did, he'll be lucky if the cops get him first - very lucky. I think it is fair to assume that the same feelings are in play here.

Don't put down my school! Noone at BC has ever made one mistake!
This stuff happens evey year around Comm ave. Not to downplay this years violence but late night, hanging in that area, it's bound for issues. College kids are easy prey and usually carry cash.
again; not to discount what a scary occurance this must have been

I think the nickname comes from the attacks being around the BU campus.
But I think the nickname Saint Mary's Mauler is pretty catchy too.
Are there any men left at BU

Are there any men left at BU or are all the little boys just standing by, watching the women get attacked and waiting for the cops do something?
It really shouldn't be that hard to catch this perp.
WTF?

Since when do the women need men/boys to protect them?
Maybe that boosts your ego to think you are sooo needed, but that attitude also keeps women from learning how to defend themselves appropriately. This guy has also been targeting people who don't have others with them - male or female others with them.
Sometimes the best option is to just hand over the purse/wallet while taking a keen inventory of facial features, build, complexion, hair, etc.

I agree with Swirly but I do think any help could be good, male or female. Most students don't hear about this and run to sign up for self defense classes. No matter who or what it is def super scary to be approached, there is a significant %age of women who, in the time of the 'incident' forget all they have learned. That doesn't discount the value of taking a class but it is something to consider.
I think the other anon was just saying a man is more likely to offer some shed of strength beyond that of a woman. He did go a step over but not enough for an attack.
