This is getting ridiculous. This has been going on for around twenty years that this area has had power issues......
Beyond the inconvenience of losing power, some appliances are taking a hit (no pun intended). My microwave fan and tv power on when the power returns. The only way to get the fan to turn off at that point is go up into the cabinets and unplug it. It's one thing when you are home to run around and unplug things; but over the holidays we were gone and who know how long the microwave fan was running. Now the microwave isn't working properly. Likely going to need to replace it. Starting to unplug tvs each night. Of course the furnace doesn't run when the power goes out either.
Have a sibling over there who has gone through like 3 computers in recent years. Now maybe it's power fluctuations in the house itself that is at fault - but I can't think the surges accompanying such blackouts (that do briefly reach the computer even with a surge protector before the circuit breaker cuts out) help.
