Rape jokes aren't funny.
How pathetic that some men, excuse me little BOYS, are intimidated by educated young women.
The statue is tacky and is drawing negative attention to Wellesley. It's hardly a conversation starter, it's a lame shit-stirring publicity stunt. I will say though, it is amazingly lifelike.
Unclutch the pearls

Let me start by saying that I unequivocally agree that rape jokes are not funny.
However, this statement is:
As a Gen X feminist who is very successful in a male dominated field, statements like this make me chuckle a bit. I can't quite put my finger on it but it does. Maybe it's because I prefer hard work, intelligence and a fair amount of bitchiness instead of name calling or putting down members of the opposite gender.

Damn, I don't have any pearls! Sorry you're lacking in the self-esteem department, but I'm just not into rape jokes.
Thanks for projecting this quote to me. Perhaps you should re-examine your accusations. I'm putting down men who think rape is a thing to diminish and joke about. Men are mature individuals who don't think rape is good for a chuckle. Please don't teach your daughters or sons that rape is a laughing matter.
Which part of my post implies that I think that rape is funny?
By Nancy

It's certainly not this point:
You deciding what behavior differentiates a man from a BOY is what's funny. You purport to be mature. Name calling is not mature. That was the point of my post.
If you somehow got the impression that I think rape is funny, perhaps a bit of self-examination on your part is in order.

Everything is funny. It just might not be funny to you. But hey, feel free to try to impose your worldview on everyone else.
Oh, get over yourself, it's Wellesley. Anyone applying there automatically knocked out half of their competition. Back in the '80s my wife used the seven sisters as safety schools for that very reason.
Excuse me?

Males don't have rights? Really? It's OK to have female advocacy groups, but not male advocates? Males are just these foul, evil monsters while females are all cowering, oppressed, intellectually and morally enlightened beings who deserve special status and privileges?

Instead of seeing it as an Us vs Them thing, how about being cool with it and saying, "Yes, women should be able seek equal respect and opportunity. I have no right to make fun of any physical, mental, sexual, what-have-you, etc vulnerabilities, whether perceived or real. Once again, everyone should be treated with equal respect and opportunity."
If you can stop beating your chest for two seconds, you may notice you do have just as many rights as anyone else, and nobody is trying to take that away from you. Once again, repeat after me: this isn't about "Us vs Them" -- it's simply them seeking to be equal to "us" without lowering "us," but by supporting themselves.

unless you are part of a historically repressed underclass in our society -- say, women, people of color, gays -- you don't need an advocacy group to assert and defend your rights: you're already fat with privilege. If your aim is to lampoon the kind of sad, scared old white guy who laps up this "Who will stick up for men?" bilge being peddled by hucksters like Limbaugh, then okay: ha-ha! Good one!

If Frosty took advantage of a sleepwalking person ... yes. That would be rape.
Very perceptive. You're learning.
Perhaps the coffee is intended to properly wake underwear man and secure proper consent?

attack on the women of Wellesley. Why do you call it a "snowman"? It could be a snow-woman you know. What does this teach young girls that want to be snow-women when they grow up? The world only allows snowmen? Stop crushing dreams and progress.
