Bummed Bruins backers vent frustration on hapless Hab fan, police
Boston Police report some Bruins fans did to Montrealers what their team has mostly proved unable to do: Beat them.
Around 10:20 p.m., police say they found a semi-conscious man lying in the street at Causeway and Friend streets, bleeding from a cut on his head:
... According to the victim (a self-admitted Canadiens' fan), he was walking down the street celebrating the Canadiens victory over the Bruins when two individuals attacked him. Witnesses stated that one of the suspects was wearing a #41 Jason Allison Bruins' jersey, while the other was wearing a blue running jacket. Witnesses say that both suspects punched and kicked the victim. In short time, officers located the suspect wearing the #41 Jason Allison Bruins' jersey and the suspect wearing the blue running jacket. ...
Arrested: Patrick O'Brien and Jared Callen, both 21 and from Winchester. Both charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (foot). The victim was taken to Mass. General; expected to live.
This was about an hour after police made an arrest inside the Garden, when Matthew Benoit, 24, of Stoneham, allegedly tried to keep officers from arresting another Bruins fan trying to beat up a Canadians fan. Police say Benoit only ceased and desisted when they sprayed him with pepper spray.
This is bogus, not all of them are overweight.

Classy!
It'll be a while before I take my kids to see a Bruins game, if that's what's going on down there!
That's OK
'cuz there probably won't be another one here in Boston until the fall, anyway.
I think you gave up on the
I think you gave up on the alliteration too soon.
Unfortunately...
Sometimes, unfortunately, I have to go to North Station to take a train on a game night.
hold the phone...
it's the playoffs against the rival canadiens. a massive influx of candadiens fans combined with a bunch of bruins bandwagon idiots.
i went to several regular season games this year and the only fighting i saw was on the ice (where it should stay). walk down brookline ave and landsdowne on an october night when the sox play the yankees. The same idiots will be there.
there's a big difference between real fans and the bandwagon hooligans who show up when a team's doing 'well'...
for the record - 5'7" - 155...
I agree whole heartedly. I
I agree whole heartedly. I went to Sunday's game and was extremly friendly to any of the Canadiens fans who approached me as long as they weren't rude (which some of them were). We're not all goons. And you will see this at Sox Yankees games during the regular season, it's not a matter of what type of sporting event you're going to, it's the fact that this state is full of 'tough guys' who are always looking for fights.
