An adult male entered the building and sprayed some type of liquid on to some furniture. He then attempted to ignite it. He was detained by a security officer and placed under arrest by responding Boston Police. He will be charged with attempting to burn a place of worship. Investigation ongoing by Boston Fire Investigation Unit.
Kevin Jones, 31, of Dorchester, is scheduled for arraignment today in Boston Municipal Court, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Not a 'place of worship'
A Masonic Lodge is a fraternal organization. It is not a church, synagogue, mosque, or other place of worship.
I'd hate to see a dangerous arsonist let go because he is charged with the wrong crime.
Why?
Why would they let him go again? I mean I know the answer . I just want to make sure everyone else knows.
Which is exactly the problem with having
overly specific laws. Arson is arson, and usually has the same result regardless of the purpose of the building that is torched. It should not necessary to have to specifiy "attemped to burn a place of worship" instead of "attemped to burn building".
