Jay has some suggestions for kids at that Newton school that is replacing Halloween with a "celebration of fall" in which kids will be encouraged to dress as their favorite literary characters:
Here's hoping one of the clever rascals comes dressed as the Headless Horseman.
Jay lists other "literary" costumes. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is certainly literary.

Those parents need to take the sticks out of their asses.
What kid is thinking about the religious connotations of Halloween amidst a sea of chocolate?
Knowing that, why would a parent choose to deprive their kid of one of the best kid-oriented holidays of the year? Getting a day off on all the other religious holidays doesn't seem to offend these parents' beliefs... Nonsense.
Haloween is just as

Haloween is just as important to the kids as the religous holidays are to parents. Its insane that they can deprive the kids of their holiday, the best holiday ever created in a kids mind.
