Adam Castiglioni reports Ghirardelli Chocolate is opening a store in the North Market Building - its first in New England.
What, you thought I meant this stuff?

That's gonna richly confuse a whole lotta tourists. Since, I mean, if you squint so that you can't tell the lobsters from the crabs, Quincy Market could pretty much be Fisherman's Wharf.
So how DO you pronounce it?

So how DO you pronounce it? I guess we need to know.

The confusion follows the schism into red and white guelphs.

Ah, but "Guelph" doesn't have that annoying "Gh" to confuse the issue.

I thought I could only find this stuff at Fishermen's Wharf, Covent Garden, The South Street Seaport, The Baltimore Inner Harbor, and many other unique, lovingly restored places that reflect the local individual character, surrounding historical urban settings and where the retail is geared toward the local user.
I sure hope they add a breakdancing crew and one of those people who act like statues to make me feel at home while I shop with other Bostonians.

Chocolate lobster eggs, chocolate lollipops shaped like lobsters, posters of lobsters eating chocolate bars, etc., etc.

Are those breakdancers still in front of Faneuil Hall? I remember when they bumped out all the other (quiet, local) performers with their loud, incessant crap.

We just need a guy jumping out of the bushes scaring tourists.
Not sure if he's still there...

I just spent a week in SF and stayed pretty close to Fisherman's Wharf, but didn't see him once. I assumed he would be out for the last big tourist weekend of the summer, kind of a bummer.
Also to be fair, he doesn't (or didn't) jump out of the bushes as much as just sit in plain sight holding a few branches in front of his face.

He scared my friend so bad I gave the guy 5 or 10 bucks.
He must make a killing.

Oh, totally! I remember that and Soup Starter were among my favorite things to eat when I was a kid. Of course, my mother didn't think they were too healthy (and she was right,) so they were controlled substances in our house growing up. Don't even get me started on the paucity of Tang in my childhood.
I recently read the ingredients list on a box of Rice-a-Roni. Just, um, don't do it.

Maybe the folks bringing the chocolate can arrange to import It's Its, the other great San Francisco dessert.

Well, but why not, really? Isn't it pretty much all chain-store fill-in-the-blank souvenir junk ("I (heart) ")? The whole thing gives me a rash, but I have to admit, one more is not going to make a difference.
