Bad car crash shuts Jamaicaway, then bicyclist crashes into tree at same location
By adamg on Tue, 09/09/2014 - 8:34pm
Sean Olson reports a car rolled over on the Jamaicaway near Bynner Street, ejecting one person, around 7:50 p.m. About 40 minutes later, with the area still crowded with emergency workers, a bicyclist crashed into a tree there, as well, he reports.
The Jamaicaway is shut in both directions.

Jamaicaway is dangerous
Its like the autobahn except it curves a lot more-- people need to take it easy! Accidents here are way too numerous. Just look at the damaged trees along the side of the road.
So true. People don't take
So true. People don't take the speed limit seriously but it's way too curvy to drive even kind of fast safely. I always get passed!
???
How the hell do you [assuming sobriety] ride your bike into a tree?

(Not saying that's what happened here, but it happens.)
look at the picture...
....this looks like the the Arlington bike path at 11am on a sunday morning(except for the dogs on the 20-foot leashes)...poor biker may have hit a tree rather than run into someone...probably going too fast, who knows?
Who knows but...
I'd guess either swerving suddenly to avoid something, brake failure or maybe just slippage. Sometimes there's a lot of debris/sand on those paths. Or yeah--maybe they were hammered. Hope everyone's ok.
long, steep hill
It's a long steep hill assuming they were heading inbound and if there was debris on the path or other traffic (bike, jogger, walker, etc...) and/or they were distracted by the accident, I could easily see it happening.
Imagine how many bikes have
Imagine how many bikes have hit them when no one's looking.
Another Rollover?
Time for MA to ban blue shells!
The J-Way is so winding and
The J-Way is so winding and narrow that it really ought to be a two lane road with protected bicycle lanes on either side. It was always scary driving that when I lived in JP.
Outcome
Any word on whether the driver made it? That was one nasty crash.
