Lynn, Lynn, city of stupidity

A Lynn man no longer has to worry about being deported or sent to Guantanamo for taking pictures of the Lynn waterfront.

Stanislav Arkhipov was arrested on trespassing charges last week when police spotted him taking a photo of an LNG tank on the harbor. Police immediately suspected foul play because he's a Russkie, had rubles and a backpack full of photographic equipment on him and, as the Lynn Daily Item reported, he gave "a curious answer" when asked why he was taking a picture of the tank:

"He said he likes to take pictures of industrial sites," said Lt. Ted Blake, Lynn police spokesman.

Because, of course, nobody except a terrorist would ever want to take photos of industrial sites.

The State Police Anti-Terrorism Unit and Homeland Security were called in on the case, but a Lynn District Court judge quickly dismissed the charge:

O'Connell says the Department of Homeland Security had placed a "detainer" status on Arkhipov after his arrest, but lifted that status on Tuesday.

Special props to the Daily Item for illustrating the story about his arrest for taking a photo of the LNG tank with a photo of the LNG tank. Soviet KGB thanks you.

Shocking aerial view of the tank.

He can't be a terrorist or have committed a crime if he didn't have silly putty or play dough.

Was he wearing olive drab clothing and plays the harpsichord? No?

You know, the judges are probably getting so tired of all the wolf crying, they can't tell anymore.
