UPDATE: After surrounding the school and sending in a search dog, police did not find the intruder, Stanley Staco reports. The guy apparently smashed a ground-floor window to gain entry.
Police are investigating a break-in at the Irving Middle School on Cummins Highway tonight. As officers surrounded the school and waited to unleash a police dog in the halls, they received word that a house on Sheldon Street, which runs into Cummins across from the school, had been broken into as well.
Two teenagers were charged with breaking into the school a week ago Saturday and vandalizing several classrooms.

Yikes. Time for the Irving to look into getting a better security system.
Works fine
Somebody breaks in, the alarm goes off.

A better security wish would be to keep the criminals out, not just an alarm to let folks know that they are there. Last week they managed to do a lot of damage before anyone arrived to stop them.

I coulda sworn they had security grates over the windows, most BPS buildings do, in part so nobody falls out. I can see the appeal for teens to break into their old school, but as a robbery target it seems a poor choice. They might have a chromebook cart or two, but those are usually locked down. Aside from that there isn't a lot you'd want to steal really, you'd have to spend a lot of time looking to find some teacher piling up field trip money or whatnot. You might get some older projectors if you smashed open the built-ins, but they are hardly state of the art and is there even a market for used smartboards?
Ever have to read
The Destructors, by Graham Greene, in English class?
Did this happen?
I'm hearing from sources that should know that there was no break in. Also, I too am pretty sure the windows have grates that would make it very difficult to break them.
I am guessing...
...you might find little paw prints from the JP feral cats who/which were up to no good..
