State won't stick possible Ebola patients in unheated tents and subject them to grilling by armed men

WBUR reports on Gov. Patrick's comments. Compare to the treatment a nurse just back from Sierra Leone got in Newark.

SNL Ebola
The Stupid
It hasn't gotten here yet. Thankfully.
But we need to be ready for people to book flights through Boston and take a train because the stupid is all around us, apparently.
Despicable Politicians, Stupid Public
It's disgusting how distorted this issue has become. Thousands of people are dying in a few impoverished countries. When someone from the US goes over to help they should be honored, not stigmatized. There is almost no risk to the general US population of a Ebola outbreak.
If people with direct
If people with direct exposure were smart enough to self quarantine this wouldn't even be an issue.
When is somebody with Ebola infectious?
Please Google that and report back.
That's a good question which
That's a good question which the CDC and NIH actually DOES NOT have a definite answer to. The amount of exposure required to infect a healthy person and the longevity of the virus outside the body IS NOT KNOWN.
Wrong
It is a dumb question to ask on an internet forum. But you are either lying or you don't want to know - you are here to sow conspiracy theories.
And in any case ...
Even if the woman DID have a temperature, you don't send in an endless barrage of hostile workers (at least one armed) to interview her up close and personal. Because now, if she does have Ebola, all those people have to be quarantined as well.
tl;dr: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is run by morons.
Security theater
This is epidemic security theater. Viruses, however, don't give a crap about bullying or authoritarian behavior and thrive on stupidity.
Science and medicine proceed through the collection of data and analysis on whether or not an approach works - the opposite of Security Theater, which puts on a show but avoids amassing any evidence of efficacy and patronizes anybody asking for it.

You forgot Illinois & Mali as of today.
Actually doctors without
Actually doctors without borders has a protocol in place for their staff, who have worked with ebola infected patients. Part of this protocol discourages staff members from going back to work and has them check their temperature daily. Quarantine is not recommended, but simple monitoring for symptoms is.
