The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to grant a license to a proposed outlet of a French Italian-style gelato chain on Newbury Street.
Amorino, 249 Newbury St., off Fairfield, would be the company's third eatery in the US - and its first in Boston. According to its philosophy, Amorino uses only the eggs of free-range chickens and "the highest-grade whole milk" in its hand-churned
Manager Lea Sasportes said that in addition to gelato, Amorino will sell other sweets and coffee.
Both the mayor's office and at-large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley supported the proposal today.

So weird...

I've lived in Boston for 2 years now but it still seems so weird & rediculous that a business would need to go before a licensing board to get a permit to open. Should it really be more complicated than lease space, get zoning approval for facilities, get business license, and get cleared by health inspector? The thought that a licensing board could say "Too many ice cream places on that block" seems ridiculous.
Don't get me started on liquor licenses...
Swoon!

I don't know the difference between French Italian and just Italian style gelato but I approve. I never really got in to froyo but gelato is awesome. If this becomes the new trend, then I'm all for it.
Actually...

Actually [adjusting glasses in a fussy way], it's Italian style gelato created by a French company, not a new style of gelato.
And it's outrageously good.
Gets better

It's Italian style gelato created by a French company started by two Italians in Paris.

S before I moved from Newbury St a few years back I had on my block: Pinkberry, Smoothee King, Emack and Bolios and some other Froyo place ON MY SAME BLOCK and now this place is going right across the cross street. Fucking unbelivable.
