Globe's found a buyer for its Dorchester plant
By adamg on Wed, 11/05/2014 - 9:07am
Dan Kennedy reports on the possible deal with Winstanley Enterprises of Concord for the 16.4-acre site - and the move of the Globies to parts unknown in late 2016 or early 2017.
The move could portend a complex without housing, since the company specializes in office and retail development, but not housing.
The Dorchester Reporter explains why the Globe should stay in Dorchester.

This is the exact opposite of what the city needs. A suburban style office park or strip mall at that location is destined to fail miserably.

Chicopee! Put your hand DOWN.
I hear there be some bargain
I hear there be some bargain basement land in Taunton, Myles Standish way.....
BC High should buy it.
While I haven't trusted the Jesuits since Father/Congressman Bob Drinan and the despicable Father Jim Talbot, many are still good and well meaning. I'd like to see BC High make a bid at the failed Globe site, across the street from their current main campus. Dorms, academic halls, chapels, perhaps with a crucifix back in each classroom? Always get a kick out of Boston College itself denying that they removed the crucifixes although I was there to watch in protest. With so many parents disenchanted by public education, the Society of Jesus should step up and reclaim its reputation.
