Scow villages, floating neighborhoods, etc. They were fairly common in some areas during times of housing shortages. Still are in Southeast Asia.

So because of Hurricane Sandy, this guy is proposing building floating housing on the harbor?
Does anyone else see something wrong with this plan?
The NYC region had a few houseboat communities. During Sandy, they were either destroyed, or washed up on land. Local governments had hated them for a while, because they avoided property taxes, so they took this opportunity to make sure they don't get rebuilt.

The barge on the left was suppose to be a bar, not sure about the one on the right, could be a work barge?
They were both there all summer and I didn't see any activity on either of them.

Why does the one on the right have a white speech balloon coming out of it. And why can't I read the dialogue? That might clear this whole mystery up.
So frustrating...

No, I meant Charles Schwab. If it was Charles Schultz you'd be hearing muted trombone sounds coming from the harbor.

You don't "Talk to Chuck" any more. Now you "Own your tomorrow". (although with the fees they charge to manage your money, maybe it should be "Chuck will own you tomorrow")
Chuck's getting old and "Talk to Chuck" could be bad if it becomes physically impossible to talk to him.
That would work, too

While the shape is no longer visible on the outside, you can still see traces of it on the inside of Quonset Pizza in Waukegan, IL (possibly the first place I ever ate pizza).

This was supposed to be a floating restaurant. The owner presented to the Jeffries Point community back in early spring and said it was going to be open Memorial Day through Labor Day. It never opened.
