A concerned citizen critiques the unknown artist's recent oeuvre:
You can't be a tortured artist if you don't have talent. This person is tagging the whole neighborhood and it's really becoming a problem. Mostly because it's not good art.

The ICA just had a young artist knit herself into a cocoon. Not at all for the spray painting of public buildings/sidewalks and the like but there just might be some artistic "passion" behind those words.
I agree that art is in the eye of the beholder, but that just

looks shitty, especially in comparison to serious street artists. Look at the ouevre of Dana Woulfe, for one local example, and this JP work recedes to the level of childish scribbling, regardless of the passion behind it.
True, but yet...

I have seen "art" that, well, looks like scribbling.
This is embarrassing, not Cy Twombly

Poorly conceived and sloppily executed. For me, at least one aspect of graffiti art has to demonstrate clear proficiency — and ideally, brilliance — to be worth much consideration. Otherwise it's vandalism and visual pollution, never crossing the boundary into art, like the vast majority of what's out there. This "artist" should at least perfect his/her penmanship and/or have an interesting, original thought. From what we're seeing here, I suspect both will take a very long time. Don't just scribble. Or if you really must, don't scribble boring, meaningless statements. And until you're as good as Banksy, do it on your own property — tag your parents' garage or do your own tattoos.
It could be worse

Compared to the GO BACK TO CANADA TRAITOR graffiti on the BU Bridge, this guy's Picasso.
