I'm not saying it's a totally bad thing to do, but it's not the main reason for going to such an event. Also, it looks like a number of the protesters are dressed in Revolutionary-era garb, which is appropriate given that it's July 4th.

Actually, my forefathers were rugged assholes who kicked the empire out of here. The empire is back, like a thief in the night, and is waging and indefinite "war on terror" -- which actually a war against Islam and the civil liberties of innocent Americans. My forefathers did not grovel ... they protested with radical demonstration, like the Boston Tea Party ... and when that didn't work they just killed the mothafuckas with bayonets, gunpowder and grit.
