Man found dead of apparent overdose at Uphams Corner train station

Transit Police report finding a white man, age still unknown, dead on the Fairmount Line platform around 4:10 p.m.

Although detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office are investigating, police do not suspect foul play:

Items located near the decedent suggest an apparent overdose.

This person wasn't one of the displaced Long Island addicts in treatment.

I wish Walsh would take more time to address this issue rather than blather on about the Olympics in 10 years! My friend was a nurse at the LI shelter and the detox and treatment beds have not been replaced and the only space is in shelters with people who are actively using. So sad that these people continue to be ignored by our city. Menino knew the bridge was in bad shape, Walsh knew it, yet nothing was done to prevent something like this from happening and now the city is more focused on building an Olympic stadium than a treatment shelter for homeless addicts who want to get clean.
Sorry if I am missing the mark but ODs can be prevented by offering beds in decent treatment programs

how us non-white/low income citizens feels about being disregarded by the city and state government. Not to worry, unlike the unsolved murder rate, if he is white and was an opiate addict there are people making noise regarding this issue.

To die alone and frozen on a train platform is tragic. The problem seems to be getting worse and the red line stations especially Quincy seems to be overrun by lost souls addicted to heroin.
