Feeling very lucky to have a cushy, indoor job
I think I'll stop complaining about having to run to the bank today.
This guy is busting his ass
This guy is busting his ass in a nor'easter, meanwhile curmudgeons on another thread are sitting warm and cozy in their suburbanite homes bitching online about a duck parade. First world problems, indeed.
Um, no
People are complaining because they suspect that the city of Boston is going to focus extra snow removal efforts towards a parade route, likely at the expense of other outlying places like residential streets.
Not having the parade route cleared - THAT"S the first world problem.
Awesome picture.
Awesome picture.
Well
it is trash day in some parts of Boston.
And for those folks, every bottle counts.
I feel bad for them
If only they could find a pair of bootstraps in someone's garbage, they'd have been able to pull themselves up by now.
I can't see this person's
I can't see this person's face, but I'm wondering if it's the kindly old grandpa I know from when I lived in Brighton. If so, he's not homeless...he owns a home in Brighton.
But! ...he puts the money he gets from the bottles and cans he returns into college funds for his grandchildren. He has told me that it seems like a tiny enough amount now, but he keeps at it every day in the hopes that there will be enough when the time comes that the grandkids won't have to take out student loans.
He also carries a small broom and pan with him, and cleans up trash that has been torn open by animals or other...um..."treasure hunters." More power to him for continuing in this weather, though.
Might be that guy - there
Might be that guy - there were actually two people, an older Asian couple who I see collecting bottles in the neighborhood all the time. You can't see the woman, who's behind the shopping cart, pushing it.
