He's our classless!

dignified like the 67 Sox, 70-72 Bruins or the 81 Celts. They celebrated by sipping tea at the Boston Public Library.

True, I doubt he attended much class during his time at the University of Arizona. Still worked out pretty well for him, though.

I recommend Introduction to Chemical Kenetics, Differential Calculus, and The History of the Pellepenasian Wars

Gosh, they sound tough. That won't leave you much time to play football.

Oh, you're on a football scholarship? You'll take the standard program for athletes, which is Basket Weaving, Crocheting, and Reading Modern Classics.

That last one sounds tough. What modern classics will I have to read?

No person shall drink any alcoholic beverage as defined in Chapter 138, Section 1 of the General Laws of the State, or possess an open container, full or partially full, of any alcoholic beverages, while on, in or upon any public way...

Some of these vehicles are licensed premises, actually.

I chartered a Duck for a private event - no alcohol is allowed on Duck Boats, even when they are in the water in boat mode. I wanted to do a champagne toast on one I rented - I was told there was no legal way to make that happen.

You were better off, I brought some road sodas and solo cups once. It was all fun and games until we splashed into the Charles and I remembered there were no facilities.

up

he's a NE Patriot.. its like being above the law.

/snark

(do you think anything would happen anyways to him?)

Give it a rest for once, jesus.

up

sheesh

did ya miss the /snark ?

Snarky comment. And truthful.. doubt anything would happen.

And frankly considering that everything is hosed downtown because of this useless, silly, and unneeded parade, Yeah I'm a bit snarky today.

You had a tough commute a few days after another major storm. Stop whining.

up

seriously, go piss off and blow it out your diamond mine of an asshole.

Debbie Downer strikes again! The Puritan in some here is strong. No drinking, no partying, no letting loose, no fun!

up

I, for one, would welcome more reasonable alcohol laws in this city and state. Open containers should be okay, selling beer at grocery stores and convenience stores should be fine, and happy hour should be our official state sport. However, none of those things are true. The law is the law, and nobody should be above it.

That's what happens when you pay more attention to your career than grown men playing a sport.

up

Ohhhh, you have a condo in SOUTHIE??? With 2 PARKING SPACES??? Are you the CEO of Microsoft? Apple? Wow, you've really made it kid, congrats.

2 spots in your Southie condo!! You're wicked cool, guy.

up

So your opinion is pretty much invalid...

up

"SoBo" has to be one of the most annoying things ever! Just call it by its official name of "South Boston" if you just can't bear to say " Southie" for cripes sake!

I think s/he is either a Broncos or Seahawks fan, so naturally s/he's a little upset today.

I guess when you are that hot ...

up

By the time he hit Arlington he had a sweater on - I'm sure to the great disappointment of the ladies - especially since it was a cardigan. C'mon Julian - buy yourself a flannel shirt or something!

....I do hope that beard is coming off soon.

He's a lumberjack and he's ok. OK?

When they returned, Council President Bill Linehan congratulated the Patriots and added:

I think the mayor made the right decision in making sure the schools were open and everybody could celebrate today.

Well, except those kids and teachers who were in school ...

part of which was spent standing in the street waiting for the bus because no one bothered to shovel out from the first storm.

D F FOOTBALLPLAYER. HOW LONG DOYOU THINK HE'LL LAST?

up
Voting closed 0

I'm so done with the way the city has handled everything that has happened this week. This parade should not have been a priority for the city when they have basically a transportation emergency on their hands. It just adds insult to injury. God forbid we don't get to see Gronk guzzle beer on a duck boat! ugh. The parade-goers better be outta here before the evening commute.

up
Voting closed 0

Nothing like telling people not to celebrate an incredible accomplishment.

up
Voting closed 0

incredible accomplishment??

relax, they didn't cure cancer. they won a football game.

Plus, it took the seahawks coach to blow a call in order for the Patsies to win. So really not incredible at all.

up
Voting closed 0

We get it. You hate football. Now go away and play whatever game you like to play. Really, go enjoy your life somewhere else -- if you're capable of doing so, that is. My bet is no, because you're just someone whose only enjoyment is pissing in the punchbowl. You should fix that if you ever want to enjoy the company of your fellow human beings.

up
Voting closed 0

One might say he's acting his age by recognizing that winning a completely inconsequential sports game for sate-wide bragging rights when there are way, WAY more pressing issues that should come first?

It's AN accomplishment, yes. Incredible? In the grand scheme of things, no.

up
Voting closed 0

was a FLUKE. That's right, we won the big game not because of talent or strategy or any "great accomplishment", but because of a FLUKE!

up
Voting closed 0

Is that because the catch that set up that whole think wasn't also a fluke?

Those things even out over time.

My opinion - the teams were evenly matched. The difference was in the coaching - not only did Carroll blow that call - Wilson also was not as well coached (or didn't execute) like Brady in throwing the ball where the defender can't get it. Brady throws picks - especially on longer passes - but he's laser accurate on the short stuff and he puts the ball deliberately where he can get it and the opponent can't. Butler was also well coached enough to read the inside slant and get in front of it.

that game came down to coaching and the better coached team won. Those subtleties are probably lost on the casual fan or those who haven't played the game.

up
Voting closed 0

I agree. The mayor put it off on them, like they were too busy to do a parade on the weekend, but I seriously doubt any Football player is going to miss their own superbowl parade.

up
Voting closed 0

... I think Mayor Walsh made the right call. I watched it from Boylston Street and it seemed to go pretty smoothly.

I'm assuming this was post-beer. Gronk is awesome.

When he went by the public garden/common (or wherever my nephew was), he was seriously getting down on the hood of the vehicle.

Natty Lite from the look of it. someone threw to him, then he proceeded to gronk spike it

up
Voting closed 0

So if I was hanging out the window of my buddy's car on Boylston chugging a beer, would I go to jail or just get cited?

up
Voting closed 0

If you were driving and hit someone, neither.

up
Voting closed 0

He chugged it then spiked it. What else do you expect Gronk to do when someone throws a beer at him?? It was a Busch Light too.

up
Voting closed 0

An appropriate reaction to a Busch Light. I didn't know that brand still existed.

up
Voting closed 0

wearing that hat.

up
Voting closed 0

Absolute zero reason why this parade was hosted in the city of Boston this week. Zero. Marty Walsh stock is on the decline.

up
Voting closed 0

Leave it too long and the team will have scattered to their vacation homes.

This got many people in to the city who loaded up pre-parade, hung out and likely went back to eat and/or drink more. They might even have bought souvenirs. And while they're in town, why not go shoppinga t DTX or the Pru. Parking lots got to charge event rates, too.

up
Voting closed 0

until they got closer, and we could see that the noise was musket fire from Revolutionary-era re-enactors marching at the front of the parade.

up
Voting closed 0

Like they give a RAT'S ASS about you down there cheering like fools, pay attention to your OWN LIFE and stop worshipping multimillionaires, they could give a shit oh and Brady see you in Costa Rica no Red Line worries down there, eh?

...what my mother would call a "pill".

up
Voting closed 0

Thanks for the memories! I had forgotten the countless times my mother used that expression.

up
Voting closed 0

Yeah, she had a few good ones. Did yours also call someone like that a "prune"? I was always unsure of the distinction between a pill and a prune.

up

Does Tom Brady pay your bills? Does Gronk have your cell phone number? Does Belichick share his bonus with you?

up
Voting closed 0

You're such a whiner. Their job is to entertain, like all entertainers. Do you bitch and moan and whine and bellyache like a spoiled baby about every single entertainer who is not to your taste? Or do you act like a grownup, say "Not my thing" and go find something that you DO like?

My god you're a miserable person.

up
Voting closed 0

Something tells me NFL players, coaches, and hell even fans take the game a lot more seriously than to simply entertain hahahah

"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED???"

up
Voting closed 0

Lots of fuddy duddies in these comments. It's ok to have a little fun sometimes, guys.

up
Voting closed 0

These reactions are what we call on another list 'winter' comments. They're what come of being beaten down by snows and shit commutes. And no time enjoying riding motorcycles, clearing your headspace. Typical topics include guns, politics, and oil. And then the CA ex-pats chime in discussing lane sharing and year-round beautiful weather.

Charming, no? This resulted in creating a separate list for contentious topics. (I stay away from it, personally)

up

Some of these individuals are chronic complainers who hate nothing more than other people having fun.

But it appears to have increased in the last week or two. Including some newly created accounts whose only comments are bitchtastic.

I don't really watch sports at all, but I was glad to see at least one big kid having fun in the snow. I don't get all the hate for this guy. He's a party bro!

Hey Adam,
They used this on the Today Show with the "I think GRONK is enjoying the Pats parade, yeah? @universalhub @Deadspin " still in place.
