Yes, time to trudge out to the store for more milk, bread and eggs

Not so much because of Thursday's storm but because the weekend storm already has the National Weather Service bringing out the ALL CAPS OF DOOM about a storm that just might LEAVE A CONSIDERABLE MARK ON OUR REGION.
Meanwhile, we've discovered that Wegman's challah, while no match for Cheryl Ann's or Rosenfeld's in the stand-alone taste department, does OK in French toast or, if you're sick of that, cheesy toast (same basic thing, but cheese instead of sugar).

Storm independent issue
Unless you count "didn't shop due to repeated storms" as "storm-related".
Most folks run very low after a week or two without shopping. We need to spend Wednesday/Thursday reprovisioning or we will be in trouble, even with the giant fridge expansion area (aka the garage) - although shipping one teen boy overseas will reduce the load on the larder.

...uses all caps in all of their weather reports. They do that to ensure that the messages will go through on certain older message systems.
Modernity Matches Mania?
With a bread machine all I now need are the ingredients for making bread. No more rushing off to buy bread before the storm. All the ingredients keep longer than a loaf of bread. So long as the electricity doesn't fail.
I just need the toilet making machine, a cow or two for the milk and some chickens.
And where will the trees for the paper come from?
Arnold Arboretum I've got my eye on you.Ah, how about a machine that recycles newspaper into toilet paper. I will avoid the puns offered by that image.I do need a generator in case the power fails. Or is there some way to turn all of this snow into a power source. All of the hydrogen that is sitting out there waiting to be freed from the oxygen.
Finally, why doesn't coffee rank up with bread, toilet paper and milk as the snow emergency kitchen essentials. Milk, schmilk. Without coffee there will be nasty polar bears wandering the streets like zombies needing their caffeine fixes.

It took me a bit to realize you probably needed a toilet *paper* making machine. Otherwise I had visions of a Sorcerer's-Apprentice-style parade of commodes piling up in your basement.

... I'm flying out Sunday morning to Florida. We're required to link up 7-year-old daughter to 77-year-old Grandma every February break.

I don't know about Wegman's, but Roche Bros. adds about a $2 surcharge for Cheryl Ann's challah - and a trip to Wegmans from Roslindale means going by Cheryl Ann's anyway, so ...

On Sunday, I tried to get challah at Whole Foods and unsurprisingly, there was none. So, I made a loaf at home in anticipation of Monday morning's french toast alert. It did not disappoint!

The trick is to let it rise for a ridiculously long time once it's braided. After that, it only needs to be baked for 30 minutes and it's light and fluffy, without any hard crusty shell.
The next time you're snowed in, why not bake some bread?
