First, if this happened between Saturday evening and, oh, this coming Friday at 6 PM, it was within the "48 hour" rule.
Second, it's not Walsh's rule. He inherited it, just like the guy who came up with it inherited the space saver issue during what is now the 3rd snowiest winter in Boston, 1993-94.
Violence is wrong. I do fault the person who removed the space saver while the snow emergency was on (thus violating the Menino Rule) but still, it does totally suck that the person who didn't move it got the damage.
if you're the current mayor and you specifically endorse it with words from your own mouth instead of coming up with a real solution to Boston's lack of snow removal ability, then it's yours.
Because some assholes don't shovel and just pull out of a spot, then take one someone had to work to clean because they couldn't get out.
How about the mayor plow all lanes of the roads when there is a parking ban?
Very few roads actually have parking bans - it's just the major arteries that you aren't allowed to park on. Most of Boston is lined with cars when the flakes fall.
This person has proof that the person who shoveled that spot smashed her mirror? Cars parked on the street are damaged all of the time whether it's vandalism or another vehicle side-swiping parked cars, etc. Furthermore, 'Namaste, bitches' is a line from the Real Housewives of New Jersey...

note-writer does specify "The apartment building has you on tape," so I'm assuming that means that the note-writer has seen the tape and knows who did it, relatively speaking.
maybe the mayor should take the opportunity to punish all the "students" at once, no more space-savers anywhere in the city, those caught placing items in parking spots will be fined for littering. he'll figure out a way to live without a few votes when he's up for re-election.
The City should remove the snow from the streets. No snow, no parking space savers. Snow up to our asses, parking space savers everywhere and they'll be around until the snow is removed or it melts naturally.
We could just enter the 21st century and have alternate side of the street parking rules on snow days - maybe get some lots to agree to the discounted parking to facilitate.
Many people know that Evacuation Day celebrates the day that British troops evacuated Boston during the American Revolutionary War. But it is less well known that the British had removed colonial space-saver buoys from the harbor in order to anchor their fleet. This was the actual root of the conflict and the whole tea tax thing was just the last straw.

Walsh got his wish, people are enforcing his random space saver policy, even past the 48 hours after a snowstorm.

This is pretty much Exhibit A why they are a terrible idea: people feel justified to vandalize.

Do you mean to ask them to extend that rate until all the roads are plowed?
