Cambridge to start removing space savers that shouldn't have been put out in the first place

The Cambridge DPW is putting parking-space hoarders on notice: Crews will begin removing their space savers starting Monday.
That's just like in Boston, except, unlike across the river, Cambridge doesn't condone space savers at all:
Public Works has not removed space savers during past month because of the demand that record snow clearing operations have placed on personnel and equipment. While snow clearing continues, the current status of operations is such that trash collection trucks are now able to incorporate the removal of space savers in their weekly collection efforts.

Worthless
Great. They are removing space savers on trash days. The majority of the spacesavers are TRASH CANS.
What a worthless proclamation for a town in denial, that supposedly doesn't have save savers, yet they are all over the place,.
Not in my recent experience.
On my walk from my apartment to Central Square (through Cambridgeport) this week, I got to see the same savers over and over, including: a sawhorse, a shovel and broom leaning on each other, a pair of barstools, a pink tricycle, plastic bin with a high-vis vest draped over it, a kitchen chair with a note claiming the spot "belongs" to an elderly woman with medical issues, an electric fan, and some wooden thing that might be fencing. There are a few trash cans as well, but they are in the minority.
Edit: here's a sampling of what Somerville has collected: http://pbs.twimg.com/media/B-2xWNRXIAA5R72.jpg
If I've been using something
If I've been using something as a space saver that I do eventually want DPW to make go away, does that mean that it's a good idea to make sure I'm using it on trash day then?
Maybe the city should start
Maybe the city should start removing the giant piles of snow from the roads first.
Crazy Talk
That's what your post is.
Did you read the article?
The reason they haven't been removing them immediately is that the DPW has been busy doing exactly that. This is going to be done by the trash trucks, not plow drivers.
Right
So, they tow your car, first? Load the space savers up with the snow in the truck?
Your desires for a saved spot, parking your car, and snow removal collide.
It will be so hilarious when
It will be so hilarious when we start seeing uhub submissions from cambridge today from people who think a resident removed the space saver. They will have no clue the city actually did it, because in their minds they are never wrong
