Hyde_Parker, I know you're joking, but Somerville actually has one of the easiest and most convenient TV recycling programs in the area. You can schedule free curbside pickup for your regular recycling day with a simple phone call. http://www.somervillema.gov/departments/ose/e-waste

It took me a while to chuck the old sets when we upgraded to HD. The irony was that when I put the sets out, a woman looking for collectibles happened by and asked after the 12 smaller set. Hey, it worked, so it ended up truly recycled.
Hey, Hey, Hey

That's something special. Something Sommerville can't just take away from us. Let's tell Sommerville to put the All back into Allston Christmas.

As far as I know, it's nearly impossible to get trash collectors to take away a trash can, even when it's in such bad shape that it almost falls apart when moved. I guess this is how you do it!

I remember we had a trash can where the bottom fell out. My father had to finally tape a big label "This is trash" on the barrel before the trash guys would take it.
I'd love to see all the trash off the street

First they'd have to take twenty-seven 8 X 10 glossy color photographs of each one to be used as evidence against us and who's got time for that.
But...

Ticketing them for littering? HAH! Don't you know that moving snow off your car entitles a person to break whatever laws and social contracts they want?
Yes

EVERY law and EVERY social contract.
I hate to tell you about the social contracts that involve snow out in my neck of the woods. Your head would probably explode.

From looking at the photo, chairs seem to be the most popular fixture.
I hope passersby can sit down at no charge and rest for a minutes before trying to climb the next Kilmanjaro-like snowbank.

DPW left a bright orange sawhorse replete with "CITY OF SOMERVILLE" after some sewer work about 5 years ago. I simply removed said debris a week after work completed and re-purposed it.
Thing looks mint and confuses all....No, ALL?
I'm still anti-space saving, despite all of this.

Space-saving is immature, childish, and very elementary-schoolish, imo. The cities and towns here in the Commonwealth, including and particularly Boston, Cambridge and Somerville, should step up to the plate and do a better job of snow removal. Purchasing larger, more up to date, modernized snow removal equipment would be an excellent start in the right direction.
People wouldn't feel the need to save spaces if the cities and towns took more responsibility for snow removal than they do.
