I know people grew up with her and have warm, fuzzy feelings, but she was the beginning of all this fake journalism and infotainment where they plop a newscaster out in the battering wind and snow (can anyone say "Plum island"?) and it becomes a "show". Sometimes when a storm has been predicted and there really isn't one, they plop the broadcaster out there anyway and the broadcaster jumps around blustering as if there were a storm. In the absence of war create one, as the saying goes. Shelby Scott was a pioneer in all that nonsense.

You are aware she was one of the first woman meteorologist in Boston TV?
You are aware she was apart of Boston's first all-women news teams, let alone an anchor?
She paved the way for all the ditzy weather people you see on TV now. When she wasn't one herself. Without her, it'd still be a men's world.
And if you read about the Blizzard of '78, you'll realize the viewers REQUESTED her to be out there after they pulled her initially, and got viewer complaints why she wasn't out there.
I wouldn't exactly blame her at all. Yell at news directors for doing this, she was just doing her job and doing as she was told. Fake journalism was around long before her..

Was way ahead of the curve when it comes to snow removal and snow melters. If he was Mayor the parade would have traveled the whole original route. But a month after the first snow we still have huge piles of snow and business areas such as Boylston and the Seaport you never would have know it snowed this winter.
