Court: Roxbury man convicted of killing the wrong person in a revenge shooting got a fair trial, to spend rest of life in prison

The Supreme Judicial Court today upheld the first-degree murder conviction of Emmanuel DaSilva for the 2007 murder of a man on Maywood Street who had nothing to do with the guy prosecutors said DaSilva really wanted dead.
The court found a minor mistake related to one bit of testimony, but said it was not enough to overturn the jury's verdict that DaSaliva had murderous intent to revenge the shooting of a friend by a Maywood Street resident and that DaSilva and a pal fired on a group of innocent men standing on Maywood Street who had nothing to do with the feud.
In addition to the murder victim, three men suffered gunshot injuries in the drive-by shooting.
The ruling upholds DaSilva's sentence of life imprisonment without possibility of parole.

I followed this trial a bit. Glad appeal was overturned.
One note- it's amazing what we consider a speedy trial. Murder was in 2007. Original trial was, I think, 2010. Mistrial due to laywer's health. Then re-trial not till 2013.
6 years is speedy for the victim's family? Speedy for the suspect, if he were really not-guilty as he pled?
I know this is somewhat common . I have no idea why. Seems ridiculous and even a bit dishonest to me.
