Yes, the guys uses aliases and donated $100,000 to some cause in New Hampshire. What is also weird is this; other Rockefellers have said he's not from any part of the family they know (and they know all the decedents with the $$$).

Criteria for Issuing an AMBER Alert

Three criteria must be met before the State Police will activate the plan:

1. A child under the age of 17 years has been abducted;
2. The child is in danger of serious bodily harm, injury or death; and
3. There is enough descriptive information to believe that an Amber Alert may help locate the child.

No social security number, no driver's license, multiple aliases, multiple stories about where he went to college, what he did for work, and all the property in his wife's name. It seems that he wasn't a Rockefeller at all, but adopted the alias to make people think he was. Not even his wife was sure she knew who he really was, and she saw this coming.

The one thing that seems clear now is that this wasn't a spur of the moment thing, but had been planned for months, involving multiple accomplices, dupes, and cover stories. "Clark Rockefeller" appears to be a man used to making up stories, pretending to be something he isn't, and living under a pseudonym, perhaps even a professional grifter. By most accounts, the only thing genuine about this man is his love for his daughter (who I bet has brown hair by now).

I'm just curious as to why this is appended to an unrelated Amber Alert.

If it wasn't posted by BPDnews, I'd wonder about its authenticity. She is strangely dispassionate maybe because she's been distraught for a while.

I wonder how Rockefeller felt about Ms. Boss changing their child's last name to Boss. If she did it because he's not really a Rockefeller but a scam artist, you could hardly blame her. But if he was born a Rockefeller her deciding to change their daughter's name would have been a particularly personal blow. I wonder what idea made her do it.

His escape seems pretty well planned but they found the driver of the second car and have interviewed her.

He's been good setting up misleading leads and you can be sure he's not using credit cards in his own names. He already had aliases.

How long before he's caught?

I admit I'm surprised. I thought if he could get away with being a Rockefeller for 12 years he could get away with being a Smith for longer.
