Hey, there! Log in / Register

Login requirement for posting to start tomorrow evening

Yep, I'm finally getting around to it. I think all the technical issues are solved, and I'm back from vacation, with plenty of time on my hands, so:

Sometime tomorrow evening, I'll flip the switch on requiring a login to post here. Reasons in a nutshell: Too many anonymi, too many cheap, third-grade insults, etc., etc. I realize that not all anon users are quick on the insult draw and most of you have interesting things to say, but I'd hate to see other folks driven off by the minority who do get out of hand. This is NOT an attempt to identify users (you can be as anonymous as you like - get a HotMail account, register some name, then delete the HotMail account).

I think we may have had some small disagreements, but you're one of the cleverest SOBs here. Grabbing that name was minor genius.

Sul, Are you sure you don't mean one of the most disagreeable and the least clever SOBs here? No, but that's a nice thing for you to say. Sweet really.

guess you won't be hearing from me anymore, but i rarely comment anyway so it doesn't matter.

i might be more inclined to register if you accepted openid, or didn't require me to have both a username and an email address.

It's built into the current release of the software I use. I'm a version behind because there are some add-on modules I used that weren't fully baked when the current version came out.

You need BOTH a username and an email address to express your overheated, uninformed opinions? Outrageous! Whatever happened to FREE SPEECH in this country, hunh?

Good riddance, anon. And you too, "brandy". They still love you at bostonherald.com

Some sort of weird irony at play here eh?

free speech isn't really relevant here, since this isn't *my* blog. anyway, this is only the third or fourth comment i've ever posted here, i think (even though i read this almost every day), so i'm not too concerned.

Brandy,

I'm sorry to see you go. I have to agree it's a sad day and I have to say anon 10:10 is funny as shyte (meaning I think he's funny) saying "Boo frickin hoo", only in Boston. It's great comedy. Anyway, if his callous disregard for you feelings has gotten you down, maybe this will help. I wrote you this song for the occasion.

BRANDY
I'm standing on the edge of time
I walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind
And nothing is rhyming, oh Brandy

Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Brandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
I need you today, oh Brandy

yikes... as if it wasn't bad enough that i am named after a song i don't like. ;)
