Terry Eliasen at WBZ alerts us:
Could there be a more fitting end to this historically cold and snowy winter than hitting 70 degrees on Opening Day at Fenway? Well, that might just happen.

If i see 50s and 60s in a forecast, I assume they're talking about sustained wind speed.
Even better

My whole thing is for us to 'turn the corner' to spring.. these one hit wonder days of 60 degrees, only to go back to ~35 the next are just not cutting it. I want spring weather, consistently!
But I saw this.. yes 9 days away but we may have finally turned the corner. There's hope folks...
Hell even if we have daytime highs of 55-65, I'm happy.. (even if we don't see 75 like the above says)

How about we all wait until nine hours away. Then we might get a reasonablly accurate forecast.

I'm just trying to promote happier times ahead, weather wise.. :) Nothing more, nothing less.

"Seven-day forecasting is really kind of a sham anyway. Anything past day 5 is really just throwing darts".

Sure it may not be 70s.. but a warm up head is.
Hard to deny many weather sources all saying similar things.
It's not like its going to rain or snow instead.
Sheesh for trying to have a silver lining to the snow tonight and the sucky winter we've having. I guess I'll just go back to be in an asshole on here instead of trying to cheer things up and keeping it light.
With respect

that's sort of like saying after the first big storm in January "We got a lot of snow today. But don't worry, it should all be gone by June."
And what if (not that I'm wishing this) we end up getting a snowstorm nine days from now - don't mock, it's happened before in April (and even May). Will the weatherperson get fired (or even diciplined) for predicting 70 degree weather over a week in advance?

it's nice to dream too roadman... No snark intended.
Meaning, I'm dreaming of nice weather.

I can't even dream about nice weather anymore. I can't even picture it. All of my memories - Sox games, Disney World as a kid, 4th of Julys past - now feature a foot of snow on the ground and a 40-mph wind blowing.

Beach on Cape Cod in August of last year. Now close your eyes....
Imagine sitting on that warm sand...
Having the sand go between your toes
Nice warm, yet cooling ocean breeze
Sun beating down on your face
Smelling the fried clam stand behind you, along with the salty air.
:) You're welcome!
Thanks

But you can keep the sand; I'll be in line at the clam shack!

with a pool of quite cold water (sea surface temperatures in the mid-30s still, several degrees below normal, natch) so you need a strong westerly fetch and a sunny day to crack in to the 70s. Just as likely you'll have one of those setups where it's 68 in Worcester, 75 and Springfield, and 49 at Fenway.
