Judging by how quiet the State Police Twitter feed is, we're going to assume that the driver of this truck, captured this morning by David Fisher, saw the second CARS ONLY sign and suddenly realized that, whoa, maybe he should stop and back up.

if this is where I think it is, the turn from Craigie Bridge (O'Brien Highway) onto Storrow at Leverett Circle.

If you got onto Storrow there
The only obstacle you'd encounter that would be unavoidable would be a footbridge with a posted 14 foot clearance--a tractor-trailer should make it under that. After that you can take the left exit to Charles Circle.
True, but ...
someone oblivious enough to take this right turn in a truck probably still isn't paying attention once he reaches Charles Circle, and will likely miss that left exit and plow into the Longfellow Bridge. (Clearance 10'6")
I'll say this much
They've got the right idea by actually having a "NO TRUCKS" banner on the guide signs. I suspect that's the real reason the trucker stopped.
Of course, those signs should be larger, but that's a different manner.
Maybe
I'm betting the "no trucks" sign was far less influential than the CARS ONLY sign smacking into the trailer, or, maybe, the next CARS ONLY sign appearing in view directly in front of the windshield.
