Dorchester teen charged with dismembering cats
A teenager was ordered held without bail today on charges he sliced up at least two cats behind an abandoned house on Mt. Everett Street.
The 17-year-old, not named because of his age, was charged with being delinquent on two counts of cruelty to animals as well as trespassing and possession of a dangerous weapon after police found him behind 29 Mt. Everett St. around 4:40 p.m. yesterday - along with cat parts - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports:
Officers observed dismembered animal parts in the yard, as well as a machete, hand saw, folding knife, a right-hand rubber glove, bottle of Clorox bleach, and a black trash bag marked with the defendant’s first name.
The kid was wearing a glove on his left hand when caught, the DA's office adds.
According to the DA's office, a neighbor reported that "dismembered cats had been observed in the yard in recent weeks."
At the request of prosecutors, Judge Joseph Johnston ordered him held until at least a dangerousness hearing on Monday.
Both the Animal Rescue League of Boston and the MSPCA are also investigating, the DA's office says.

Practicing...
Future serial killer.
Seriously...
Keep an eye on this winner.
Smh
That thought into my head so fast.
Hmmm....
Scumbag - and abusing small animals reportedly does not bode well for the future of an individual.
Maybe he'd like to try his luck with those two new kitties at Franklin Park?
Needs to get serious psychiatric treatment
before he finds cats boring and decides to try something larger.
No more watching Dexter
for you, young man!
Scary kid
Definitely in need of psychiatric treatment. Did his parents have no clue? Boston Animal Control needs to start a campaign, specifically in Dorchester, though I'm sure the rest of the city would benefit, to capture and spay/neuter feral cats, as well as educating the public about why its important not to let your cats outside in densely populated areas, also offer some occasional free spay/neuter programs and notify the communities about it! When I lived in Dorchester there were street cats everywhere. they always ended up dead in the street or probably being tortured by some sick, frustrated and bored kids. My neighbor had a cat that came into her house and also went outside, I saw that cat climbing out of the dumpster many times. It had kittens every year too.
There is a Go Fund Me
There is a Go Fund Me campaign right now as the Alliance for Animals (Boston) Mobile Clinic has been kicked out of their space after 20 years bc I guess the owner of the bldg. wants to build condo's. You can also donate via Paypal. They offer low cost spay/neuter and low cost vet services.
It's a sure bet that PEOPLE will be next on this kid's list:
Here's hoping that this kid gets psychiatric treatment before his sick behavior (dismembering cats) slides into people killing. We've already got enough people-killers roaming the streets. Who needs another one?
Some people...
...can't be helped. I say just get him off the streets and be done with it.
WHERE IS GETTING THESE CATS?
WHERE IS GETTING THESE CATS? Are there more being tortured wherever they are kept?
They're probably stray cats
They're probably stray cats
YIKES!
Glad they caught this kid. As for where he's getting the cats, there's a huge stray/feral cat issue in Boston. I run a local rescue and we help TNR groups by taking in the friendly cats and finding them homes. There are hundreds of strays ( either dumped by owners, or kicked out because they are no longer cute or small enough) in the Boston area
Hope the city realizes that cats lives matter.
