7-Eleven slurps up local convenience store chain

7-11 may have bought out a profitable business to add to their own, but they from what I have been told they will not change much of the Tedeschi's way. I am not 100% sure about everything, but I am almost certain Tedeschi's will remain the same name, but just have a different company owning them.

I hope you're right, but ....

I wish American 7/11 is like Japan 7/11. If 7/11 here is like their counterparts in Japan with its cleanliness and better tasting food (both Japanese and American offerings), that would be awesome.

Given that Poland ranks higher than the US in IQ, far ahead in math, reading, and science, I'd imagine "fewer than the average American".

While I thought the 7-Elevens in Tokyo were a bit more delightful than their American counterparts, and the quality of food a bit better, I think a lot of that has to do with American food generally being absolute garbage, whereas staple fast food and snack items in Japan are not. It's a low bar they're clearing.

I could really go for some nori maki arare right about now. Perhaps I'd wash it down with one of the four thousand varieties of coffee in a can.

Those quality 7-Elevens and Family Marts in Japan come in handy when you wake up at 4:30 AM because of the time difference and you want something to eat and some coffee and nothing else opens for 2 hours. And unlike in America the food they sell doesn't even give you diabetes!

NOT GOOD, as the drugstore monopoly of CVS and Walgreens can attest, among many other examples. Tedeschis often have awesome deli and sandwich/sub sections, and better selection imo vs 7-Eleven. Now pretty much everything is owned by some mega corp out if a suburban Dallas office park.

another local chain that 7-Eleven bought a few years ago. You could have a sandwich custom-made for you at 3 am if you wanted.

Some other convenience chains no longer with us: L'il Peach, Christy's Market, Sunnyhurst Farms, Sunny Corner Farms, Store 24. Tedeschi's bought the last one, but I have no idea what happened to the other chains.

It's an element of Lays Foods. They made a bunch of manic location grabs around here that blew up on them.A second site in Central Square and a site in Harvard Square both closed.

They probably want this lot for location value, especially in New Hampshire. They also get a bunch of sites with Beer/Wine sales options.

When I was a kid we did all our weekly shopping at the Tedeschi's Supermarket in Hanover.

One weekend, Bozo-the REAL Bozo, Frank Avruch - was there in full regalia at the front entrance promoting something, maybe the show, I was too little to know what exactly.

Anyway he tweaked my nose, and a penny fell out.

Actually, 7-Eleven became such a successful operation in Japan, the Japanese division bought out the Americans. If you go to http://7andi.com you'll find the press release detailing how Tedeschi's is the newest subsidiary of Seven and i Holdings of Tokyo, Japan.

I wish our stores were as good as theirs!
