Police seek white Ford Fusion in connection with 7-year-old's shooting

Boston Police have released two surveillance photos of a car they say may be connected to a Bowdoin Street shooting that sent a boy and a man to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
The car has a moon roof and a rear spoiler, police say.
Police had earlier reported they were looking for a teenager for the shootings.

So yeah, there's a lot of bewilderment and frustration about the system's set of priorities, wrapped up in a longer conversation about the ubiquity of the surveillance state and who actually benefits from it, and a general sense of helplessness about anybody's ability to keep anybody from getting shot for any reason at all wrapped up in my post. But maybe you just got to town and didn't know any of this and posted before you had time to learn about it or even log in. But "stay classy" is a line from a pretty funny movie from like 10 years ago, so well done there.

It MIGHT have something to do with there being a huge number of surveillance cameras in the area around State Street, and very few in a residential area of Dorchester.
Kind of helps if there is actual video to be looked at.
Why is there so much
Why is there so much surveillance of the sex crime on the T? Your facetiousness would be funny if the reasons for the surveillance weren't so deadly clear.
Mass transit has been a target of terrorism many times the world over: London transit bombings, Spanish commuter rail bombings, Mumbai commuter rail bombings, Tokyo subway gassings. This is just off the top of my head.
Boston has been a victim of terrorism. NYC and other cities with big transit systems have had general and specific threats against them. I think we Bostonians would be the last to laugh about the reasons for cameras on the T.
Still not funny
The explanation is just digging the hole deeper. Your joke was inappropriate, for the reasons stated above. Explaining it does not make it better; it just reinforces the impression that you don't see the difference in seriousness between a victimless public sex act and the shooting of a child. Think about that the next time you find yourself typing a joke about someone's injury.

If you are so concerned about seeing "inappropriate" things then perhaps stay off the internet and stick to Readers Digest.

This image looks like it was
This image looks like it was captured with shotspotter, those cameras you see attached to acoustic microphones in certain areas. Indoor surveillance cameras are cheaper, and the orange line blowee was only a few feet away from one.
Not ShotSpotter
Those are just acoustic thingies that can pick up the sound of gunfire (and things that can sound like gunfire, such as fireworks, which it can often distinguish, and truck backfires, which it has less success with). However, BPD does have surveillance cameras all over the place in high-crime areas - and they're pretty good at knowing which stores/buildings have external cameras.
I thought shotspotter
I thought shotspotter pinpoints the direction of the muzzle sound, then immediately pans the camera there. Are the cameras also capable of operating independently?
Good question
I don't know. I do know they use their cameras for non-gun crimes and in cases like this, where the car may not have been right at the shooting scene.
