I can remember very few times when that would be the case on the Charles or the Mystic/Malden (1985 comes to mind, maybe 1997 or 2012).
But, yeah, I hear you. Doesn't much matter if it is slightly later in the year - still 5am, water temp is still 38F, air temp is still below freezing ...
I rowed for Roman Catholic High School, and then, since I hated sweeping and pretty much all college programs sweep, I raced singles and doubles at Penn A.C. until I joined the CG. I've considered getting back into it, but I had back surgery a few years ago and don't want to tempt fate. I can "retire" in 5 years so I'd like to not ruin my back again before that.
