The Boston Fire Department ordered residents out of the four-story building at 175 Maverick St. after a rear brick wall undergoing some work began to collapse around 3 p.m. A few minutes later, fire commanders decided to get residents of 177 Maverick to leave as well.

There is no space back there, I doubt they could even get an excavator or similar into that space. I hope it ends better than the accident at Gove St and Chelsea did a few years ago.

I saw photos of the bricks outside this building, crack going down a straight line, indicates a few things, one being rotted main beam in basement or basement floor is sinking causing pillar holding main beam to slip. Engineer would make a decision if its worth saving, or tear down and rebuild into luxury condos. Eastie is up and coming. I hope they save the antique bakery oven.

How can we help these people who were displaced, is there anyway the city of Boston can help find permanent housing in Eastie with all the affordable housing in Eastie that is widely available. They should have units reserved for emergency purposes just like this.
Help please!

Hello, my name is Kimberly Romero and I am one of the residents of the building on 175 Maverick St. that recently collapsed. If you want to get in touch with us, and the rest of the families to help us, my email is [email protected]. Right now, we have been displaced to a hotel in Chelsea, which is just a temporary housing situation until we find out the decision that will be made on the house.
I walked by it this morning.

I didn't stick around for more. As you'll see, they put up a lot of yellow tape.
They have a combined services detail of from BFD and BPD eyeing it from across the street.
It's spooky as the upper floor tenants who probably fled in their socks. With luck they'll at least be able to get some temporary shoring in to stabilize it for people to do a more orderly evacuation
