Floating light illuminates the sky for first time in decades

617 Images was on hand this evening when one of the beacons atop the Nantucket Lightship anchored at East Boston was turned on for the first time in 40 years.

Does anyone have more information on this - this is really cool! Is this the original light? Why did they suddenly do this?

The Nantucket station was served by many ships over the years. This is LV112.
