Great to see only three officers injured and nobody killed this year. The 12 year-old will have plenty of time to father a few kids and "turn his life around." Progress!
Or the St Patricks Day parade, where drunken fights and vomit are "traditional southie" so its ok. How many people have been hurt or killed in various sports celebrations in Boston?
You're right! Every single person at yesterday's festival is responsible for every single horrible thing that has ever happened at any event, ever. Because all those non-white people are all the same and all share collective guilt for everything, ever.
And every single one of the thousands of people who attended yesterday's parade and festival need to be found guilty for the actions of a few people, even if they had left the event hours before, for the same reason.
In contrast, that guy who stabbed somebody else in the eye in March? Just a poor individual who deserves our help.
Fistfights happen all the time at large events, that's why i didn't mention it.
The Caribbean Festival on the other hand has a long track record of gun violence.
Also, in regards to your comment... "In contrast, that guy who stabbed somebody else in the eye in March? Just a poor individual who deserves our help."
Maybe you can go back and read the TYPICAL UHub St. Patrick Parade comments you and others post here, like the above.
Where I see a comment heading on the left of the main page, and I guess which poster is responsible. I saw this headline and knew Mark90210 was behind it.
Sorry you and your spoiled suburban frat boys puked all over the Southie parade route when you thought you'd drive into the city to get wasted and act out of control during St. Paddy's Day.
That tens of thousands of people enjoyed a peaceful parade and festival throughout the day.
Yes, it's a shame that, towards the end, a small number of jerks ruined things, because we know that never, ever happens at other ethnic festivals in Boston. Except, of course, when it does:
A North Attleboro man was charged today with stabbing two other men after yesterday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade - including one who was stabbed in the eye – was held on $15,000 cash bail today, while six others were arraigned on less serious offenses and two are the subject of active warrants for failing to appear in court, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.
I suspect getting stabbed in the eye is not a qualitatively better experience than getting shot, but never having experienced either, I could be wrong.
At about 4:38pm, on Sunday, March 18, 2012, officers assigned to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade responded to a call for a person struck in the head by a bottle in the area of 20 Jenkins Street. Officers located the victim who was alert, conscious and suffering from a large gash on his forehead. The victim confirmed that he was in a fight in which the person he was fighting smashed a beer bottle off of his head.
Yes, the vast majority of people who attended the parade that year and this year were peaceful, law-abiding citizens who were only there to enjoy the parade.
In other words, the same as the vast majority of people who attend every other ethnic parade and festival in this city.
I think you missed one key word in the report regarding the parade, "AFTER". It occured after the parade. Adam, don't even try to compare the S. Boston parade to these other ones. How much liberal guilt do you suffer from?
But this is Universal Hub. Not Universal Attleboro. How many non-whites live in North Attleboro compared to Boston? How much gun violence is caused by whites versus nonwhites in Boston? Anybody got cold, hard, numbers? Percentages?
The stabbing didn't happen in North Attleboro. A guy from North Attleboro came all the way up to South Boston and stabbed somebody in the eye on the day of the St. Patrick's parade.
When I spoke with the organizers for the Puerto Rican festival to record the parade, they said that it was at the request of then At-Large Felix Arroyo and Councilor Tito Jackson to move it to City Hall as improvement / contrustion was being down at Frankin Park.
Over on the Festival facebook page a poll was down about being at City Hall, it was split down the middle.
Those who like City Hall said it they felt safe and more accessible on the T, those against said they couldn't expressing themselves and felt like it was a "sanitized" Festival geared for more of those who are not Puerto Rican.

You are truly wise, sir.
What did i say about the DR Fest?
Nothing, wise one.
Fistfights happen all the time at large events, that's why i didn't mention it.

Yeah, those fistfights at Oktoberfest
Damn Germans drinking bier, eating schnitzel, and singing songs. Oh, but nobody getting punched, stabbed, or shot.
Any Gay marchers at the DR parade?
While comparing with St. Patrick's Day. Was there a gay Dominican group marching? Were they protested?
I play a game sometimes.......

Stop It With Those Damn Facts Adam!
You are getting in the way of blind racism.
Any shootings?
Murders? Or just the rare stabbing like the one used as an example?
What difference does the type of violence matter?
I suspect getting stabbed in the eye is not a qualitatively better experience than getting shot, but never having experienced either, I could be wrong.
2012 was fun, too

I think you missed one key word in the report regarding the parade, "AFTER". It occured after the parade. Adam, don't even try to compare the S. Boston parade to these other ones. How much liberal guilt do you suffer from?
How much?
Not nearly as much as you suffer from cluelessness.
Now go look up the amount of Hockey violence perpetrated by Canadians in Boston in a given year.
But this is Universal Hub.

This used to be in Franklin Park
as was the Puerto Rican festival. When and why did both of these get moved downtown?

Oh yeah, we have to watch out
Oh yeah, we have to watch out for all those white people shooting each other everyday in Boston neighborhoods.
