And doing interesting things with circus peanuts in Davis Square.
Oh, and annoying the regulars on the T:
... Loud arguing over where Harvard Ave / a particular bar / some guy's apartment is as our new arrivals struggle to make sense of the MBTA system map. The frequent urge to say "Take the B Line until you see vomit on the streets" and "Want to get to Allston? OK, take the Red Line to Ashmont, then board the trolley to Mattapan... if you hurry you can make the last one of the night!" ...
Like the job UHub is doing? Consider a contribution. Thanks!

I hate to be that kid but students are also regulars on the T and contribute to a large part of the Boston economy, etc etc...
Not worth it

Sometimes you have to wonder if the dollars are worth it.
Now that they're all back, we'll have a week or two of Sidewalk Smash-a-thon as they go out to party, get wasted, and then stumble back to their apartments knocking down every newspaper box, scooter, and any other unattached object in their path.
Last night I got to be serenaded to sleep with my first after-2-am outdoor gab-fest.
In the next few days when all of the BU students remember the T, but not that they have two feet, we'll be treated to more lengthy and frequent stops between Packard's Corner and Kenmore (never mind that the BU Shuttle combined with the 57 bus run more often than the T during the day).
Those brand new bike lanes are about to be the pre-crossing Comm Ave queue for hundreds of students who will join all of their friends double-parking the lane and illegally parking in the regions where they'll use the gutter plus the bike lane.
Unfortunately, Students are an Industry

We could get rid of them, sure, but the universities they attend are pretty much one of the few remaining industries in the area. It seems like half my neighborhood works at Tufts, MIT, Harvard, Northeastern, BU, etc. Do you really think the universities could move all the students out and not take all their research bucks with them? I don't think so.
New New Bedford, anyone?
You got my support

Hey Al,
Don't listen to the chronic bitchiness of this crowd. We love being a college town here, and I look forward to the next couple months of actually having chicks in the bars!
Of course, then 1st semester finals will come, all the students will get stressed out (or failed out), and the girls who arent used to the winter will grow leg hair and psychologist bills all winter, but we'll see the kids again in March!
(all meant in good fun! welcome to boston)
